Having grown up in the Molino Nuovo area, after completing his mandatory schooling Renato Cabrini obtained his school-leaving certificate from Lugano Secondary School and, on 15 July 1989, was awarded a Diplome de Licencié en Droit from the prestigious Law Faculty at the University of Geneva, a city with an international spirit and home to major international organisations (UN, UNHCR, UNICEF, ICRC, ILO, WHO and more). He returned to Lugano and having gained standard legal and notarial experience, he was awarded a Diploma di Avvocato Svizzero (qualification to practice as a lawyer in Switzerland) from the Court of Appeal on 22 May 1992, before qualifying to act as Notary Public for the Republic and Canton of Ticino on 30 June 1993.
